libAtee has been djing on and off since 1992, in the early years he appeared in a couple of pubs and such in his home town of Salisbury but alas this didn’t amount to anything substantial. however he’s always had a place in his heart for the early 90’s Rave scene.
In 1999 after selling his beloved decks he moved to Newquay where he tried his hand at his other passion of hip hop and Rap. Spending a lot of time on the beaches in the summer writing lyrics and attending open mic nights. Also at this time he would get down to the local beach party’s with his 3d super woofer and mic’s to hold cheeky little rap sessions with locals and visitors alike.
In 2004 realizing that bumming around on the beaches, learning to surf and skating everyday wasn’t his life long ambition he returned to Salisbury (to sort his life out) On his return he quickly brought some decks, scoured the internet and record shops, trying to hunt down all the old vinyl he had lost over the years which put him back in touch with some old DJ friends from back in his younger years. Now he was back into mixing like he’d never left, and in 2008 joined Choons.net where he started uploading mixes and meeting a lot of new people who shared his passion.
One DJ in particular was Nicky Allen who gave him so much support over the next year and introduced him to Kidson at www.nu-rave.com After getting to know the nu-rave crew libAtee was asked in November 2009 if he’d like to do a radio show. Jumping at the chance his first show went out and generated such a buzz with him, he asked for more. This saw the launch of the random rave show which started at 8pm on Saturdays after Ted Coopers show in which he hit the ground running. Also at about this time he discovered Ableton live 8 and quickly wanted to get to grips with learning music production.
After a while Ted Cooper moved to another night and in came GEEZAH a like minded DJ who enjoyed the same music, style and Randomness as libAtee. The partners in crime where born. \o/ Every Saturday from then on was about the Random Rave Show with Geezah & libAtee and over time the show grew in popularity it also paved the way for libAtee to find a family of like minded ravers who made up the nu-rave crew. He tried his hand at running a record label, releasing 18 EP’s from some amazing artists from the scene.
Unfortunately due to site closures and distribution problems he had lost so much he decided to stop with this and concentrate on soley on DJing and production. to date he has tracks signed to Red Alpha Records, Untity breaks and appeared on the fantastic Album BOOYAKA along side a number of legends he used to and still do look up to. Special thanks to the following: Kidson, DazzF, Nicky Allen, Damage Inc, Paul Cronin, Simon Holme,s Unity Breaks, Sonic Fortress, Raveskool, Nu-rave.com crew, Planet Rave.com crew & Londonpirateradio crew
